Attitude of Gratitude... 30 Days of Thanksgiving! Day 12

DAY 12

New Haven Ministries is a God send to the Sioux Falls and surrounding communities. I have had the privilege to be a part of New Haven as a client, part time staff and counselor in training.

"The mission of New Haven is to offer hope and freedom in Christ through one-on-one, couples and family Biblical Counseling, and counselor training within a graceful environment.

Our desire is that all of our clients will see more and more the character of Jesus. He is the one who walks with us and guides our steps, He is strong and big enough for whatever we encounter, He loves us with a love that never fails, and He is the source of peace and rest. It is our hope and prayer that we all will be shown in deeper ways what it means to know Jesus as our Life and to live in dependence on Him as we stand on the truth of His Word. All of our services are based entirely on donations in order to allow everyone who needs help to receive it regardless of the their financial background."

It was this commitment to help others that allowed me to receive help when I was in great need.

Today I am thankful for:

  1. My daughter Lindsay who introduced me to my friend Lisa Brouwer 5 years ago.

  2. Lisa Brouwer who held Elev8 Leadership Workshops once a month, where I met my friend Megan Howard

  3. Megan Howard reached out to me and we connected over coffee and fellowship, and she introduced me to New Haven and the work they do

  4. New Haven Ministries where my life was radically changed

  5. Carol the director and my boss who is the epitome of a servant leader

  6. The many staff counselors who have become not only coworkers but friends

  7. The lives that I see on a regular basis that are changed, the relationships that are restored, the many who accept Jesus as their savior and those whose hope has been renewed

  8. Second and third chances

  9. The freedom that comes from trusting that God knows best and loves me most

  10. The quote about transparency and vulnerability from one of my favorite books "The Cure,"by John Lynch. “What if there was a place so safe that the worst of me could be known, and I would discover that I would not be loved less, but more In the telling of it?” This is God's grace and what clients find at New Haven Ministries

  11. Kevin who is the knower of all things and the doer and fixer of all that needs to be done at The Empower Campus

  12. The many people who support New Haven through their prayers, encouraging words and donations
